Ripper Tips (Teeth): Replaceable wear items like the
Ripper shanks with reinforced tips are core components for excavators, bulldozers, and other heavy machinery, designed for breaking and loosening hard rock, frozen ground, weathered rock, old pavement, and dense mineral layers. Their primary function is to maintain high penetration force, strong bending resistance, fracture resistance, and long service life under conditions of high impact, high compression, and severe abrasion.
Through a four-in-one design combining reinforced tip geometry, alloy materials, advanced heat treatment, and wear-resistant protection, these shanks overcome common issues of ordinary ripper shanks such as excessive wear, bending, tip chipping, and difficult soil penetration, ensuring efficient penetration of hard materials.

Reinforced-tip ripper shanks are engineered for high penetration, low resistance, and excellent wear performance, with key structural advantages:
Wedge-Shaped Reinforced Tip
The narrow, forward-leaning wedge geometry reduces cutting resistance, significantly increasing the impact force per unit area. This design allows easier penetration of hard rock layers and compacted soil.
Thickened Root and Large Fillet Transition
The connecting section features large-radius fillets, eliminating stress concentration, significantly improving impact resistance and bending fatigue performance, and reducing the risk of fracture under repeated high-frequency impacts.
Integrated Forged Structure
Forged as a single piece, the shank has fine, dense grain structure with no internal porosity, offering much higher strength and toughness than conventional cast parts and superior load-bearing capacity.
Wear-Resistant Reinforced Zones
The tip and cutting edges are reinforced through localized quenching and hardfacing layers to delay wear, maintain tip geometry, and ensure consistent penetration performance.
| Material Grade | Key Alloy Elements | Key Properties | Applicable Conditions |
|---|---|---|---|
| 42CrMo | Cr, Mo | High quenching-tempering strength, fatigue-resistant, good toughness | Medium to heavy load, frequent impact |
| 35CrMnSiMo | Cr, Mn, Si, Mo | High strength, excellent wear resistance, minimal deformation | Mining, hard rock, high-abrasion scenarios |
| 40CrNiMoA | Cr, Ni, Mo | Ultra-high strength, high toughness, fracture-resistant | Ultra-heavy, extremely hard rock conditions |
| Wear-Resistant Hardfacing Alloy | W, C, Cr | Hardness HRC60–65, extreme wear resistance | Tip surface reinforcement layer |
Overall Quenching and Tempering
Ensures a tough core with a high-strength surface, enhancing impact and bending resistance.
Localized High-Temperature Tip Hardening
Achieves tip hardness of HRC52–58, significantly improving wear and compression resistance.
Shot Peening
Introduces residual compressive stress on the surface, suppressing crack formation and extending fatigue life.
Tungsten Carbide Hardfacing Layer
Forms a high-hardness protective layer in the most wear-prone regions, extending tip service life by 1–2 times.

Reinforced-tip ripper shanks are mainly used in mining, quarrying, infrastructure excavation in hard or frozen soil, and roadbed rock breaking, where high penetration performance is critical.
Typical performance specifications:
Tensile Strength: 1000–1300 MPa
Impact Toughness: ≥50 J/cm²
Tip Hardness: HRC52–60
Compatible Machines: 20–60 ton heavy construction equipment
In hard material operations, this design can increase penetration efficiency by over 30%, and the service life is 1.5–3 times longer than ordinary ripper shanks, significantly reducing replacement frequency, enhancing operational continuity, and improving cost-effectiveness.
